- 20th September, 1917 'The result of a high explosive shell on Stirling Castle, a strong concrete redoubt in the Ypres Sector during the battle on 20 September 1917. Bodies of Australian soldiers, some were probably stretcher bearers, lie near the entrance of the blockhouse.' (AWM) An original photograph taken from a contemporary album collection.
