- J.K.Farnell began producing bears in the early 1900s. The Alpha trademark for its bears was introduced in 1925 and although the factory was bombed during the London Blitz it continued producing bears up until the company closed its doors in 1968. This bear circa the 1940s is a quintessential Alpha-Farnell bear with amber eyes, large curved ears, long shaped legs, slim ankles, large feet and a round head. A.A. Milnes's 'Winnie-the-Pooh' was purportedly a Alpha-Farnell bear.
