Auction 129 highlights

Welcome to Smalls Auctions Sale 129.

During these times of limited international travel, we have decided to take you on a two-week Voyage of Discovery using the medium of coins.

This week in our Sale titled Australia and World Coins Part 1 we have included Australian coins and World coins from A to J. Some coins are of pure collector value while others are superbly pedigreed proofs and circulation issues many of which are the finest known.

Of particular note are the 1940 and 1946 Proof Sets of Iceland previously part of the Melbourne Mint Museum Collection. These are exceedingly rare proof record coins struck solely for the reference collections of the Royal Mint and its branch mints and so have mintages of well under ten.  This is also the source of the 1941 Proof Set of the Faeroe Islands which was struck by the Royal Mint for this territory of Denmark while it was occupied by British troops during WWII. There are also rare proofs and patterns of Great Britain, Gold Coast, Fiji and Jersey and high-grade coins of the Isle of Man and the Ionian Islands from the eponymous Jerome Remick Collection.

And of course, there is a strong cameo selection of Australian coins in the Pre-Decimal series many in PCGS & NGC holders.

We hope you enjoy this numismatic adventure through time and space.
