Welcome to Smalls Auctions Sale 31.

This month we offer a fine run of sixpences from the ‘Benchmark Collection’. Beginning with the highest graded 1911 Sixpence in PCGS MS66, other highlights include the 1916 Sixpence in PCGS MS68 which remains the only Australian coin of George V to achieve this grade, a spectacular proof-like 1923 Sixpence in PCGS MS65 and a 1934 Sixpence in PCGS MS67.  This is a rare opportunity to secure a span of rare sixpence dates that will rocket you up the standings in the PCGS Set Registry.

We also include two important commemorative medals celebrating the voyages of discovery of ‘Cook’ and ‘La Perouse’ which are highly significant to Australia’s early colonial history. Both explorers made landfall at Sydney’s Botany Bay from which European settlement of Australia began and they are important reminders of the courage of the early seafarers.

Cook and La Perouse relied on scientific instruments supplied by the famed maker Jesse Ramsden of London and in this sale, we include a very early example of a ‘Ramsden Telescope’ in exceptional condition and remarkably still with its original sleeve.

There is also a strong selection of circulation Australian Pre-Federation Private Banknotes and uncirculated specimens from the archives of Bradbury Wilkinson and well as some quality Pre-Decimal banknotes.

As usual there is also a cameo collection of world coins and banknotes and a wide selection of jewellery.

Happy bidding,
