Welcome to Smalls Auction Sale 132. The Sale begins with a dealer’s stock of Australian solid Opals. These are priced at well under the wholesale price for their carat weight so if you are thinking of having a custom-made piece of jewellery made now is the ideal opportunity. We have also ventured back to the ancient past in this Sale with a selection of Dagger Blades, Spear Heads and Arrowheads dating from the Neolithic times. Some of the more interesting items relate to the Etruscans who were a civil and relatively peaceful civilisation that was assimilated rather than conquered by the neighbouring Romans. They provided the cultural backbone to the Romans as they spread their civilisation across an expanding Empire. Although used as weaponry and with a grisly history being usually dug up from the battlefields of history they also provide an insight into the science of the times as we moved through the Stone, Bronze & Iron ages. Many of the items on offer are impeccably provenanced being tagged as from collections sold by Christies and Sothebys in the 1970s & 80s. There is also a small collection of Aboriginal and New Guinea items including a ‘left-handed’ Boomerang. We hope you find something of interest in the Sale. Smalls Auctions.
